Surviving the Chaos

>> Saturday, November 21, 2009

We were faced with a bit of chaos as soon as we tried to leave Xi'an.

The snow storm the night before our flight caused a major back up at the airport. The lack of order and police authority just added to the chaos. Our flight was canceled, but we were luckily able to fight our way onto another flight since our Chinese Visas were to expire that day.

Hong Kong was an oasis from the chaos of China. Thanks to my Dad and Anna we stayed at an amazing place. We were able to have some really good food and rest up. It was just the luxury we needed to recoup.

Our food/water borne illness did however follow us to Hong Kong. There was a point when we were both still feeling ill and almost thought we weren't going to make it to India. Lets just say we are so glad we did!

India is of course as chaotic, crowded, and dirty as you would imagine. It is also exciting, beautiful, and surprising. We first arrived to Delhi where we were able to meet up with Caitlin for a few hours and explore the city. We then headed to Agra to see the Taj Mahal (amazing! and free!)and are now in Jaipur. We are on our way to a National park to do a tiger safari tomorrow and two more cities before meeting up with Caitlin again and then to the beaches in Goa!

We'll be in touch soon.

Yuck, its snowing

>> Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Its been really really cold here in Xi'an and suffice to say we have been doing very little other than catching up on sleep. We did walk around the city some and went to see the terracotta warriors.

Thankfully we will be heading to Hong Kong tomorrow where it should be A LOT warmer, mid 80's. Nice!

(Snows not as fun if you don't have the clothes and school/work isn't on the line!)
