No, We Didn't Get Lost in the Islands...

>> Sunday, July 26, 2009

We are alive and well. It's been a while since we've gotten around to updating the site. In our defense we didn't want to log into our gmail accounts from any of the internet cafes in Sulawesi because they had to many viruses.

We are back in Kuala Lumpur (KL) and now have fast wifi again. We have been busy editing and uploading pictures from Sulawesi and they are now online at http://picasaweb.google.com/lwptb54 . We had an amazing time in Sulawesi, Indonesia and quickly fell in love with the country and people. We are planning on heading back to Indonesia, which is a very, very large country, on Wednesday. This time however we are headed to Sumatra, west of Peninsular Malaysia.

We will be adding videos and blog entries to the main page before we head out again. Also, in order to ensure that the blog never sits idle for as long as it did, we have purchased a USB thumb drive and installed a portable browser so we can log into our email accounts from on the road.

Stay tuned...and keep up the comments, we love checking them!

Hi guys,
Well, some of this is what you call roughing it! I am glad you guys are able to take this fantastic trip, gain unforgettable experiences, and see other countries and cultures off the beaten path! Of course, we are sitting back home, concerned about health and safety for both of you but you are young and that’s the time to do it. Enjoy, stay safe, and watch your backs. Our prayers are with you.

Thanks! It must be a lot more scary to be sitting at home and thinking where we are. Once you are on the road you realize how silly it was to be worried about visiting a place. I don't want to rant, but I feel that the media and culture in America has shaped us to be scared of anything that isn't Canada or Western Europe.

Thanks for your thoughts/prayers. We are safe and doing well!

Damn you guys are having so much fun.

PS Kevin, I have been saving all my left over DJs. Keeping them in the fridge, I just throw all them into a salad bowl until the bowl is filled. I will then precessed to package it and mail it to where ever you maybe.

A picture paints a thousand words....

Your wonderful pictures highlight all that is so special about your trip... exploring different cultures and making new friends around the world! You both look so happy (what's not to like!) and looks like you are jumping right in to the local scene wherever you go.

Jackie - looks like you picked up some new jewelry along the way?

Kevin - like the Castaways look!

All is well on the western front and we are really enjoying the sea breezes and BBQ nights.

Keep those pictures coming so we can experience your journey from afar.

Lots of love and cheers!

hi Guys!
I must say the photos are gallery quality! Bravo!! I liked the underwater shots...very cool. It is so nice to see the friendship in the eyes of your acquaintances.

Be safe...

Is this really my daughter who would not eat anything but mac & cheese? You guys look like you are having to much fun...if that's possible....
Those pictures are fantastic! Beautiful views and beach. the village people shots are also great. I was almost thinking about canceling our trip to France and re-booking to Malaysia until I saw the bathrooms and dining hall! At least there is not much of a dress code. Kevin: you blend surprising well. Jackie: you look like you could use a whole day in a spa (ha ha). I did double check your itinerary plans to make sure you are in fact coming home....although I see a ? on the return date of the 18th. Remember Kevin, you promised me you would bring her home safe and without a tattoo (I did mention the tattoo right?)no nose ring either....you guys will eventually have to go on interviews for jobs!
Miss you both...stay safe and in good company.
