We've arrived in Kalaw

>> Saturday, September 19, 2009

We enjoyed our three days in Inle Lake and had a great time staying at the Queen Inn which is run by a very kind and caring family. The mother cooked for us every night and at breakfast we were treated to fresh banana pancakes, tea, and fresh fruit on our bungalow porch.

We are now in Kalaw, which sits at 4200 feet above sea level in the rolling hills of the Shan state. We hope to do a day trek into the surrounding hills and villages if the weather permits. It has been raining on and off for the past couple of days.

We will be staying in Kalaw for two nights and then heading to Bago, in the south, for two nights, where we will do a day trip to the Golden Rock at Mt Kyaiktiyo. Afterwards we are heading back to Yangon for the final two nights where we will catch a flight back to Bangkok.

We are doing well and Jackie is feeling a whole lot better!
